The Site

信じられますか is read, “ShinjirAreMasuka”, or SAM for short. SAM is a hybrid blog run by kei-clone, a college student who lives in New York, NY. It can be pretty much divided into two parts: anime and life’s peculiarities (often, these are the same thing). –> Edited October 18th, 2006: It’s pretty much just anime, with bits of life here and there. <– First, let’s deal with the important stuff: explaining SAM features. (it’s a work in progress)

  • NFW - the No Fucking Way moment of the day, most likely things that’d make someone go NFW! out of some (positive or negative) incredulity (not to be confused with…)
  • WTF - the What the Fuck moment of the day, where incredulity is also a criteria, but here it most likely stems from weirdness, neutral in terms of +/-
  • Forum Archive - from time to time, kei engages in lengthy forum discussions that are often quite enlightening. These posts are almost entired devoted to the copy-pasting of these exchanges

So what’s the purpose of this blog? Primarily it’s for kei-clone to archive his thoughts and allow him to remember things about anime series, because after a while it’s hard to remember what you liked or didn’t like about so-and-so anime. Or it’s for archiving his random thoughts in any case.

It is nice to have people read what I have to say though, so while I’m perfectly content if no one reads my little blog, comments and discussion often bring enlightenment to both sides, and thus I address my “readers” when I write here.

Origin of Nomenclature

Of course, then there’s those all-important names from which everyone judges this blog by. Apparently, kei’s ideas for names often comes quite randomly out of anime sources…he thinks… best guess is that when furiously trying to come up with a name, kei’s brain just picks out something that seems semi-l33t out of recent experiences. Like his name:

kei-clone - came from way back when two years ago when I was trying to figure out a good name to use on IRC. Actually the name was originally Keisuke. Where I came up with that name I have no idea, but perhaps it’s a reflection of the ubiquity of japanese names sounding similar…you know, Keichii, Kei-kun, Kensuke, Keiki, Keiko, Keitaro (definitely didn’t get my name from that last one, stupid guy from Love Hina). Anyway, after a while, I had use the same name for a particular message board, when I decided to change it up a little, to defer questions of “Who’s Keisuke?” Originally wanted to shorten it to “kei-kun”, but that would’ve defintely spawned some Love Hina imagery, so whimsically - kei-kun ~ sounds like~ kei-clone….yea…you may now send killer lolis in my direction.

信じられますか - translated means “believe it?”. This comes from the final line of every Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni episode: “あなたわ。。。信じられますか 。” (Can you believe it?) Sounds l33t? Sounds remotely mysterious? Sounds like I know a bit about what I’m doing? It’s the title! I’m beginning to think, however, that the meaning stems from two of this blog’s features - the WTFs and the NFWs, hence…shinjiraremasuka?

About the Blogger

kei-clone was born and raised in New York. Lived on Long Island most of his life, and is currently a student at the Cooper Union in lower Manhattan, majoring in chemical engineering and minoring in biomedical engineering.

His favorite anime is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, followed by Fullmetal Alchemist and Shaman King. Kei began watching anime in the summer of 2004, when he bought the entire series of Shaman King (bootlegged, unfortunately T-T) because he couldn’t wait for the next season on the FoxBox. Shortly after, a friend introduced him to Naruto and Love Hina, and he learned about the pure w00tness of bittorrent. The rest came smoothly afterwards.

The genres kei-clone pretty much stays away from are mecha (although he’s slowly moving into this genre), hentai, yaoi and shonenai sort of stuff. Recently he’s found bishojo anime starting to appeal to him a bit more than other genres, but he remains open to all genres.

So that’s about all I have to say for now. This page would probably be updated soon as this was the first thing I typed. Hopefully you’ll all enjoy reading.
